Famous for its magnificent sunsets, Oia is the prettiest village on Santorini. At the forefront of the island's economy during the 50s, it was in large part destroyed by an earthquake in 1956 and never took back to shipbuilding. Since, it has transformed itself into a completely pedestrianised holiday resort. Its troglodyte houses, blue domes and local arts and crafts make it an unmissable stop-off of Santorini. At night, the ?meltem', the north winds come and caress your face and help turn the blades of the Oia windmill.
