Na zdravje! - Slovenia

"Na zdravje!", meaning "Cheers!" is a handy word to remember out in Slovenia's wine cellars, designer restaurants on the coast, in the mountains or in fashionable city haunts. Slovenia produces various good white and red wines; some however are nothing exceptional, so do seek your waiter's or barman's advice. Wines from the Karst region can be relatively harsh on the palate due to the way they are aged. If you are unsure you can bank on white wines such as Malvajia, produced in the south west, or for red, a Metliska Crnina, from the Bela Krajina in the south east. However, avoid red sparkling wines, as most people tend to dislike them, but have a sip to try it by all means! You may find that you enjoy it.
