Following the example of pre-Inca culture, the Paracas culture constitutes one of the cornerstones of architectural, scientific and religious development. The height of the powerful civilisation came in the 15th century with the conquest of regional kingdoms, which were themselves spread throughout the country before finding themselves definitively subjugated. The Paracas established themselves at the centre of the country in the region of Ipa, until the third century AD. The mysterious and colossal Nasca Lines date back to their era, as does the construction of a series of aqueducts and the production of ceramics and beautiful materials. Paracas textiles surprise people today with their techniques, dyes and embroidery. Highly specialised, the Paracas wove the wool of lama, alpaca and vicuna to produce in particular splendid ceremonial coats.
