Restaurant Wholesome fresh food in Paris

Our selection: Restaurant of the week

Fuxia

Fuxia

Although Fuxia isn't a gourmet restaurant, it comes fairly close. A sure bet for absolutely any occasion and a range of budgets, Fuxia, pronounced 'fuchsia', is a particularly good choice for Parisian summer evenings.

Originally a deli rustling up sandwiches with fresh and quality produce, Fuxia expanded to the rest of the floor, upstairs and outside on the terrace throughout most of the year. Set in a quaint little parade of shops in the Square des Batignolles in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, the terrace's earthy tones show through, which makes up part of its appeal upon first laying eyes on its glass front.

In the summer, Fuxia's terrace is the ideal place for a relaxed lengthy meal of cheese and charcuterie small plates garnished with roquette leaves and crunchy gherkins. As a main, there is a delicious selection of tasty pasta (for 'al dente', make sure you put in a request when you order), pizzas, fresh fish and more substantial dishes like roti de porc (roasted porc).

The wine list has something to tempt a range of budgets and each even has a handy description underneath to help in making your choice. The restaurant also has a delicious selection of Italian desserts to finish off. Prices of bottles range from around 19-50 euro (£15-£40) and a generous serving of freshly-made pasta costs around 14 euro (£11). And for what you're getting you'll have a tough time finding better value anywhere else. For small budgets a plate of mouth-watering pasta will set you back no more than £15 (depending on the ingredients you choose) and if you have a little more to spend and you're looking to treat yourself or that special someone, then you can pay up to £70 a head.

However, the restaurant does have a downside - rest-assured, there is just one -if you don't want to be left standing waiting for a table (waiting time can be up to an hour and usually balances out at around 45mins), make sure you book first.

A highly-recommended restaurant where you know what you're getting with friendly and efficient staff in a lovely location. Also a great address to keep handy as a back-up plan in any situation.
