Like most of the restaurants, bars and cafés in the village, the Agile Rabbit is independently owned and although a little rough around the edges, we prefer to call it boho-chic. Not only is the décor something that looks like it was created for 'Anne Frank: the film', with wiring sticking out of the walls, bits of flyers, newspapers and God knows what else stuck to the flaking cracked walls, but we love the reclaimed tables and chairs and the general upcycled look of the place; we especially liked the huge blackboard with curious karma sutra positions performed by rabbits - hence the name of the place, 'Agile Rabbit'. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely provides a few minutes' amusement as you try and decipher the drawings on the board. An interesting backdrop to your lunch indeed! Speaking of lunch, the AR actually serves fantastic homemade pizza; thin crispy bases and original toppings of just about anything from Stilton to chorizo - there was so much choice that it took us longer to choose our pizzas than it took us to find the place in the midst of the Saturday morning Brixton bustle.
The AR also doubles up as a bar that hosts live bands on Thursday and Friday evenings. Pizza here is excellent but best of all, at about £7 (depending on toppings) it won't leave you out of pocket or feeling hungry an hour later.
Open Mon-Wed 10:00am to 6:15pm; Thu-Sat 10:00am-midnight; closed Sundays.
