Climate Reunion

Reunion benefits from a humid tropical climate. Three zones can be distinguished: there is the east coast, (directly in the wind) which is duly affected by the trade winds and gets heavy rainfall all year round and there is the west coast (under the wind) which benefits from a dry tropical climate where it is warmer and the temperature differences are much higher. As for the interior of the island, it is characterised by a cooler climate with high temperature ranges, fog and frequent rainfalls. The best period of the year to hike inland is during austral winter - from April to September. However, avoid the hurricane season, from January to March, because although they do not turn up every year (fortunately for the inhabitants and the buildings), it generally rains a lot during that period and tropical depressions can make it difficult to foray inland. The temperature of the sea generally remains between 20 and 26 °C.
