Reunion is an island better known for its inland areas than its coastline, and there is a good reason for this! The landscape offers a succession of peaks, coves and cliffs and no one part resembles another. There are two volcanoes, one of which, the Piton de la Fournaise, is still active; and three craters and a mountain in the middle of the island make up its splendid landscapes; some regions are desert-like, others often inaccessible but they are always stunning and mysterious. A candidate of the UNESCO World Heritage programme, the national park covers some 40% of the island's surface area and it is home to a wide variety of indigenous species. Excursions and paragliding are the two most popular activities for discovering the inland parts of the island or getting an incredible view of it from the sky. Whatever your vantage point, you will be left speechless by the beauty of the landscape.
