With a name like Caribou, meaning 'welcome' in Shimaore, you would expect to made to feel right at home at this hotel... and you won't be disappointed! The Caribou opened in 1988 and has since been renovated and extended, and becoming something of an institution on the island. It now attracts both businessmen (and women!) and families passing though Mamoudzou, thanks to its two main selling points, namely its great city-centre location and the swimming pool nestled at the centre of the complex. It is also home to an independent restaurant and bakery which are popular with the locals all day long.
