Opinion We liked the focus on well being but the rest is a bit disappointing as it looks more like a resort than a typical riad. The decor was old.
Advantages The spa. The location across from the beach and close to the medina.
Disadvantages The internet connection was awful. The breakfast wasn't great. The rooms were cosy but the decor was dated. Needs a makeover!
Facing Essaouira's long stretch of sandy beach, and located two minutes' walk from the old Medina (the fortress), the hotel, Le Médina Essaouira, part of the Accor group's MGallery collection, is a modern establishment with a strong spa focus. Although most guests stay here for a weekend to a week on a tailor-made well-being programme, some guests are also here for the hotel's proximity to the old town, the beach and the modern facilities. Despite a basic Moroccan influence in the hotel's style, the MGallery isn't the most typical of hotels to stay at in Essaouira, so for travellers looking for a more authentic experience, staying in a riad (a typical small inn) within the fortress walls may be a better option. The hotel is ideal for a wide-ranging clientele, including couples on a romantic weekend away to families with children, looking for the comfort, convenience and facilities of a modern-build hotel.
