The Romanians have kept their traditional crafts alive, even though the style and colours may not necessarily correspond to the Western taste. In villages and particularly around monasteries you will find a great number of shops where you can buy beautiful rugs, embroidered fabric (table cloths, napkins, shawls, scarves), wooden sculptures, painted eggs and framed icons. The delicately decorated eggs of Bucovine are a pure marvel, and require hours of work. Most shops are open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and are closed at the weekend.
