Walking along the quay of the Moika, westbound, from Dvortsovaia square, you will pass by Ioussoupov palace, which houses a splendid Italian-style theatre. Further away, past Kissing Bridge, New Holland district stretches, a great part of which is covered by a red brick warehouse surrounded by canals. Southwards, Krioukov canal leads the way to Theatre square where famous Mariinski theatre (ex-Kirov) stands. Further still, Saint Nicholas's naval cathedral, an elegant blue and white building, topped with five gilded domes, shelters a magnificent iconostas made of carved wood.
