Marigot Saint Martin's French capital and biggest town makes up for its lack of cultural identity with its quality restaurants and tourist attractions. Vladimira Dvorakova / age fotostock;
Saint Martin's main city claims to be more refined and less noisy than Philipsburg. It is actually the case in all the restaurants, bars of the city and surroundings. There aren't many points of cultural interest. Take the time to observe the last remaining wooden colonial houses. You will find them near rue de la République, tucked between ever more numerous shops and restaurants. The area around the harbour deserves a visit. The market is held every morning, except for Sundays. Crowds gather around the stalls where vegetables, tropical fruits, baskets and freshly fished seafood are displayed. The marina of Port La Royale is very fashionable, for its many quality restaurants and boutiques. The place is a must for a drink in the evening.
