The Roças Despite the island's craggy relief, farming is possible. © Consulat de Sao Tome
Fields are composed of plantations (roças) of cocoa, coprah, coffee and bananas. Do not miss the archipelago's largest, Agostinho Neto, located half a mile away from Guadalupe, with its architecture in the pure Portuguese colonial tradition. The roças of Agua Izé, of Monte Cafe (the only arabica plantation on the archipelago), of Bombaïm (a very beautiful site with waterfalls) or else Sundy's, on Principe, are also worth a visit.
