Local artists use an impressive range of painting styles, producing work that is full of originality.
Surrounded by so much natural beauty, it is not surprising that the Seychellois are good artists. The various style of paintings of local artists are really surprising and certainly do not lack originality. Michael Adams was the first Seychellois painter, known world-wide for his flamboyant paintings and his colourful style. Some other painters, paradise fanatics, got some renown, such as Christine Harter, the owner of the Café des Arts on Praslin, seeking for inspiration in the Seychellois daily life style, Serge Rouillon, qualified as a "fauvist", Marc Luc, expressionist, and Léon Radegonde, a painter who also makes brightly coloured collages. You will find these works of art in hotel rooms or in the many art galleries spread all over Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
