The other islands of the Seychelles, Seychelles

With its 115 islands, of which only twenty that are inhabited, the islands of the Seychelles offer a wide variety of destinations with a taste of paradise. Whether it be coral or granite, virgin or occupied , green or dry, each island has its specialities and its wealth. Also, it is tempting to want to discover more. To satisfy your desire to escape, tour operators have developed different combinations of islands in their offers, from the classic Mahe, Praslin, La Digue to a mixturre of different ones. But beware, distances on a map may be misleading and travelling always depends on air or sea routes. It is indeed worth confining yourself to a restricted area if you do not want to increase the travel time by plane, boat or helicopter.
There are four distinct groups of islands: the core group comprising the islands most frequented by travellers, the Amirantes, including Desroches and Alphonse; the Farquhar group, located only 124 miles from Madagascar, and the Aldabra group, which is farthest from the capital and almost unknown to tourists, except through the images of "World of Silence" filmed by the Commander Cousteau.
The hotel industry has extended to these islands in a spirit of preserving the environment. Bungalows built of natural materials in the heart of a turquoise lagoon, are the norm here. Many uninhabited islands are also used for the purposes of tourism and host a single hotel each. Which may really make you feel like you are the only person on earth !
