Historical dates

1991: As part of the breakup of Yugoslavia, Slovenia declares full sovereignty. December 2002: Janez Drnovsek becomes President. Anton Rop is Prime Minister.
March 2003: Slovenians vote for integration into the European Union.
1 May 2004: Slovenia joins the European Union.
1 January 2007: Slovenia becomes the 13th EU member state to use the euro.
