Situated in the Cape Oriental region, to the east of Cape Town and some 44 miles to the north-east of Port Elizabeth, the Addo Elephant National Park hosts a population of approximately 200 elephants. Created in 1931, the park was set to save the elephants from extinction that have fallen prey to farmers across the region. The reserve now homes an animal population three times denser than in any other reserve in Africa including species such as koudous, oryxes and buffalos.
