In general, the coast on the Indian Ocean offers pleasant beaches, a warm sea and an enjoyable climate. Whether near Durban, Port Elizabeth, Knysna or the "Garden Route", the coastline is marked out by a succession of seaside resorts, beaches perfect for surfing, lagoons, estuaries and humid forests. The coast to the north of Durban (between Umhlanga Rocks and Tugela Mouth) offers more beautiful beaches than on the southern seaside, but yet less frequented than them, such as the Sunshine Coast and the Hibiscus Coast, which are very popular, for example.
