Busan is a sprawling city, the 5th largest port in the world, and South Korea's second city, with no fewer than 4 million inhabitants. The city provides easy maritime access to Japan and really is a must when visiting the country. After all, there's nothing more typical of Korea than the large Jagalchi fish market, open all day long, every day of the year - another sight not to be missed! The ladies selling the fish try to attract passers-by by cornering them in the street, but don't let this deter you, as the market provides a great opportunity to encounter some of the country's most popular fish and seafood, such as the sea cucumber. Sticking with the sea theme, Taejongdae Park is home to the Yeongdo lighthouse, which is still in operation and offers spectacular panoramic views (you can even see Japan on a clear day). To the opposite side of the city lies the seaside resort village of Haeundae, renowned for its huge sandy beach. This part of the city is popular among Koreans in the evening due to the many restaurant and cafes you'll find here.
