The country has some twenty natural parks which provide great opportunities for hiking and climbing: in particular, see Mount Gayasan park, which is near Daegu, which harbours Haeinsa, the most famous temple in Korea. The Mount Seoraksan national park in the east, with its granite peaks and waterfalls is very beautiful, as well as the national park of Mount Wolchulsan, south west of Seoul, which is very famous for its rocky formations in strange shapes.
