The least inhabited of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura boasts more than 150 beaches. The best beaches are found in the extreme south of the island, on the Jandia peninsula. With its long sandy beaches separated by cliffs, Costa Calma is today undergoing extensive development with more and more modern properties. A more 'wild' coast is found in the direction of the isolated lighthouse of Punta de Jandia; just as the western side of the peninsula, it is very windy and only accessible by 4x4.
