Ibiza town Ibiza is the most extreme of the islands, both in landscape and visitors. © Bartomeu Amengual - age fotostock
Overlooked by ramparts, Ibiza town (Eivissa in Catalan) spreads across an area of the island's southern coast. Be sure to take a boat across the harbour; the incredible views combined with the sea salt in the summer breeze make for a really pleasant experience. A pair of fortified gates guard the old town's summit, which offers a superb view over the city and the port. The historical centre of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its church (Santo Domingo) and cathedral among the city's most beautiful buildings. Below the ramparts, between the Sa Penya neighbourhood and the marina, the city is full of narrow alleyways that have become the centre of Ibiza town's night life. A succession of bars, cafés, restaurants, nightclubs and trendy shops provide plenty of distractions.
