Agricultural and viticultural areasLa Rioja is well-known for its wine. The harvesting of wine in La Rioja has an ancient lineage with origins dating back to the Phoenicians and the Celtiberians. Martin Siepmann/ age fotostock
The orography of La Rioja is made up of various geographical features such as valleys, hills and mountains, as well as an extensive forested area, and has strongly influenced the life of the region's inhabitants over the years. This being the case, visitors to the region today will notice vast expanses of dry-farming land (such as almond trees, vines, etc.) and mountains riddled with paths trodden by animals, not forgetting the various little villages which blend perfectly into the surrounding landscapes.
