Since Antiquity, the second largest city of Andalusia, has remained a very active port. Tourism is also a privileged sector of activity, as observed by the various hotel and tourist infrastructures found along the seafront. Of course, Malaga has suffered from property speculation. However, the old city has conserved all of its charm and offers interesting sites of interest such as the Alcazaba, a fortress ruin, the unfinished Renaissance-style cathedral, the Picasso Museum, opened in 2003, and Picasso's childhood house, a moving testimony. If you want to enjoy the best view of Malaga, just follow the steps along the fortifications all the way up to the summit of the castillo de Gibralfaro. You will be rewarded with a splendid view of the arenas, the port and the cathedral. You will see the entire city of Malaga, all the way to Torremolinos seaside resort, some 4 mi away.
