Travel is my driving force in life, and although I have had the privilege of visiting 30 countries so far, my heart will always remain in India...

The coasts of San Vicente de la Barquera lie at the heart of Oyambre Natural Park in the western part of Cantabria, where the biodiversity of the forests meets the advantages provided by the sea. The coast is a mix of every possible type of shoreline: craggy cliffs, exceptional marshlands, estuaries ('rías' in Spanish), sand dunes, beaches where swimming is permitted, etc. On top of an exceptional setting, they have the Peaks of Europe for backdrop. The most popular beaches to go to are: Las Fuentes, El Tostadero, Rosal-Merón, and Oyambre. All of these beaches comprised of white fine sand are perfect for practising water sports and other activities. Moreover, they can be accessed by both pedestrians and cars from the car park, and have showers (except for the beach of Las Fuentes) and litter bins at your disposal. They are cleaned on a regular basis. Keep in mind: in high season Spanish civil guards prohibit dogs on the beach (except for the beach of Las Fuentes).
