Seville is the capital of Andalusia. In the centre is the Barrio Santa Cruz, the old Jewish district where amongst the patios bordered with flowers you will find the Giralda Cathedral, a 15th century Gothic building which is overlooked by a Moor tower that dates back to 1198. There is the Capilla Mayor, a ?must see? for its plateresque railing and altarpiece, and, on top of the ancient Minaret, you will discover a beautiful panorama of the city.

Down below, take a break in the Patio de los Naranjos: the orange tree courtyard whose Alcazar walls protect the area and within which you will find the palaces and gardens of Peter the Cruel and Charles V. The Hospital de los Venerables, nearby, not only encloses frescos by Valdés Leal, but is also host to various art exhibitions. Continue your tour with a visit to the restored Baroque church and take a walk along Guadalquivir River in the El Arenal district.

Overlooking the river, you will see the Torre del Oro (Gold Tower) which was constructed by the Moors in the 13th century to protect the port. The Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza is noticeable by its Baroque façade and white arenas which are among the oldest in Spain. Lovers meet on the Paseo de Cristóbal Colón, a lovely shaded promenade, meanwhile facing the city centre, on the banks of the Guadalquivir, the Triana district has preserved the popular atmosphere of Old Seville. San Jacinto is the district's main high street and it leads to Alfareria street, where the pottery workshops that make the traditional Triana style ceramics are found.

The length of Castilla street brings you to Inquisición alley, where there are patios and houses full of flowers. From the embankment, you can admire the panorama of the Expo 92 Bridges. Outside the centre, south of the city, the Maria Luisa Park spreads over 4,305,564 sq ft. To the north, the Baroque and Mudejar churches are right next to the old tapas bars. One evening, treat yourself to a ?tablaos de flamenco;' many of these flamenco shows take place in the Barrio Santa Cruz. There are various bars around the Cathedral in Seville, and the nightclubs can be found in the Alfalfa area. The streets of Marqués de Paradas and Julio César are full of life from dusk til dawn. In the summer, take advantage of the terraces on the river banks.
