The high monsoon season runs from May to August on the west coast, while the low monsoon runs from November to January on the east coast. The best time to visit the country is thus between November and March. Average temperatures in Colombo are constant: 30 °C in JDecember, 31 °C in March, 30 °C in June . But is is colder in the mountains in the interior of the island: take woollen garments and raincoats. The sea on the east coast is dangerous from May to October.
