Galle and its surrounding areas, Sri Lanka

Galle is a city with a rich history. First colonised by the Portuguese, the Dutch have also left their mark.
The old city of Galle is nestled in a fort, dating from the 16 century. In the past, many transit goods passed through this important port.
Today, the city is split into two parts, one side with the old, abandoned city and the other side with the modern city.
Therefore I advise you to concentrate your visit to the fort and the inside of its walls.
So both cultural visits and relaxation are both on offer !

pros

  •  The city of Galle is rich in cultural and historical legacy
  •  Beach and culture meet here

cons

  •  The cultural sites of the Cultural Triangle are not far away.
