    The Cultural Triangle is the main tourist area of Sri Lanka. Here, most of the archaeological heritage was discovered in the early XX century. They were found in the jungle. This triangle is bordered by Kandy, Polonnaruwa and Anhuradrapura. It was the place of former Sinhalese kingdoms .

    See the site of Dambulla where a monastery dating from the 1st century BC is carved into the stone. 5 caves correspond to 5 rooms with frescoes, statues retracing the life of Buddha. Explore then the site of Polonnaruwa, the ancient capital of the kings of Ceylon from the XI century. Numerous remains of statues, palaces and temples are still visible. A lake was the site of wealth and a huge reservoir was built to irrigate the rice fields nearby. The visit may continue to Kandy, a city where many holy shrines attract followers.

    Avoid talking about politics or about the conflicts taking place in the north with the Tamils .

    Rice with curry remain the main dish of the island. You can eat spicy and delicious food. You can also try many dishes with a coconut base. The soups are very good and often based on lentils. As for meat, chicken and goat are most often cooked. The fish is also very present. For dessert, don't miss the choice of exotic fruits, bananas, papayas, coconut, pineapples, mangoes.
