Fishermen's villages

Not a place that tourists flock to, the Atlantic coast of Suriname is full of small villages, close to the water, between areas of coconut trees and mangrove swamps. There are no real beaches in Surinam as the sea sides are muddy and haunted by mosquitoes. Small cities like Totness, to the west of Paramaribo, are worth staying in for a few days.
