Its 23 beauty- and customs-specific counties make Switzerland richly folkloric, deeply rooted in its past. Notwithstanding, Switzerland is not cliché of Swiss aramailli or buttonhole edelweiss, pleasuraby being blown through the alphorn and singing the yodel. But the Swiss countryside has preserved several customary festivals and popular shows that reflect the connection between man and working in the fields, like grape-harvesting. Many of its villages and small towns open weekly markets selling fresh products from the surrounding farms, offering the opportunity to see its farming traditons. On the cultural aspect of things, Switzerland is the European country with the highest number of museums (over 1 000), the most famous being the Lucerne transport museum, Geneva botanical garden and Chillonmedieval castle. Switzerland welcomes thousands of music festivals yearly (classical in Lucerne or Gstaad, jazz in Montreux and Bern). Internationally, Switzerland is known for its inviolable neutrality. It has the best trained armies in the world to defend it. It is also home to several peace organisations, notably the Red Cross which was founded by the Swiss philanthropist and humanist Henri Dunant in 1863.
