South-west of the Neuchâtel lake, in the canton bearing the same name, the medieval town of Granson hosts a magnficient castle and a stunning Romanic church. The capital of thermal spring therapy, Yverdon-les-Bains, lying south of the lake is stormed by throngs of curists and has a lovely beach. The lake is pristine and superb for swimming, windsurfing and water skiing. The town of Neuchâtel, with its charming ochre façades and lively cafés is a delight to visit. La Chaux-de-Fonds plays host to the international clock museum, one of the best in the world, that retraces the development of an acitivity that is the mainstay of the region. Le Corbusier, the architect who spent his youth here, built several villas for the dignitaries of the city: villa Fallet, villa Schwob, White House. In the Jura canton, stopover at Porrentruy to view the splendid stained-glass windows of the Old Town churches. Further north, the Franche-Montagnes region offers lovely pastures lined with forests of fir trees where you can go horseriding, trekking or kayaking on the Doubs river.
