The best times to visit are in April-May and September-October. In summer the shores are humid and hot. Desert regions are dry. Average temperatures along the shores are 29°C in summer and 10°C in winter. In the desert, temperatures sometimes hit 45°C. In Damascus, average temperatures are 35°C in summer and 12°C in winter. Some snow falls in Damascus in winter. It rains along the coast in winter, and the hinterlands are sometimes very cold.
