The most famous in Taipei, a popular spot filled with life where Buddhism and Taoism thrive side by side, and where the Taiwanese hurry to pray and burn incense. People come here to seek advice from the divinities on their sentimental and professional life, on health or even success in exams. The scene of several processions, this Buddhist temple located in the old neighbourhood of Wanhua was built in 1738 in the pure tradition of the Taiwanese temples and has not stopped rising from its ashes. Destroyed for the first time in 1815 following an earthquake, it was seriously damaged once more in 1867 by a typhoon and collapsed under the bombs of the allies in 1945. An unmissable experience to immerse oneself in the religious fervour of the people.
