Dushnbe, the capital, is a pleasurable site at the foot of the snowy Hissar mountains. Surrounded by majestic cotton farms, the scientific and cultural capital of Tajikistan only has a few attractions, including its ethnographic museum which is home to a wonderful collection of traditional attire, musical instruments, jewels, and utility objects. Also worth seeing: The Russian church, the synagogue and museum, elegant vestiges of its multiple confessions.
