Khogang

Khogang, the northern capital of Tajikistan is the second biggest city in the country. Founded by Alexander the Great, it is one of the oldest towns in the country. Door to the Fergana valley, the town is home to several vestiges like the citadel, built in the Xth century, a bustling bazaar, mosque, medersa and mausoleum with a elegantly decorated compound. Worth seeing equally: the stattute of Lenin, the biggest in Central Asia (that of Tashkent was destroyed).
