The coast and the Zanzibar archipelago have a tropical climate. The other regions and the Northern animal national parks and reserves are temperate. Generally, temperatures are highest from October to mid-March, with a big increase January. Places get colder from June to September. However, temperature differences are limited and always vary between 25 and 30°C on the coast and between 22 and 27°C in the North. There are two rainy seasons: "Vuli" and "Masika". "Vuli", the light rainy season, is around 15th November, sometimes later and goes for two to three weeks. "Masika", the heavy rainy season, stretches from mid-March to the end of May.
