The flora in the Falkland Islands As the climate is not conducive to tree growth, the local flora consists mainly of shrubs. Some of the plant species are endemic. © Patrick de Wilde
Contrary to the very rich wildlife, the Falklands don't have a varied plantlife. You'll find a few plants specific to the region. Like the tussock, a plant growing in tufts, taller than a human being. An ideal refuge for some animal species. However, the landscape is essentially farmlands and heaths, dominated by grass and heathers.
