The Hague, a royal residence since the 13th century, is teeming with gems and palaces. The numerous remains, such as those on Mount Saint Peter and the Roman caves remind us of the history of this old Roman village. The traditional tourist tour starts with a visit to the main palaces; Huis ten Bosh, where the royal family lives, Noordeinde and Lange Voorhout, now converted into a museum. The Parliament buildings - the Binnenhof and its famous knights' hall - date back to the 13th century and can be visited outside official sessions.
