Here is a brief insight into what awaits visitors of the Wadden Islands. The archipelago, jewel of the crown, seduces with its nature. It is on the islands of Schiermonnikoog and Vlieland, where any kind of motorised transport is prohibited, that you can make the most of the nature. The island of Terschelling, 'De Boschplaat', heaven on earth for birds, has been recognized as one of Netherlands' five natural monuments, whereas the island of Ameland, with no less than 16 miles of beaches, is known to be ideal for relaxing in the fine weather and it is one of the islands which offers the opportunity to go on a boat tour and watch the seals. Terschelling, Ameland and Texel, are the three largest islands which have a reputation for their lively holiday atmosphere. You can rent bikes on all of the islands and ride on special lanes in the heart of regenerating natural areas.
