Today, Lome is more of a business centre than a tourist destination. The city centre lies by the seaside and you can see fishermen going to sea in their canoes. The main market, spread out on three floors, is one of the largest in West Africa. The national museum is dedicated to the arts and traditions of the country. Lome's nights are amongst the most memorable in West Africa. At nighfall, African music booms from the radio sets of street vendors livening up the streets.
