A fine balance: glamping, so chic

Set in the southern French region of Drôme, the camp site is located amidst six acres of beautiful nature reserve woodland. A new take on camping, the site offers accommodation in fully-equipped luxury safari tents with a more rural touch than the other glamping ideas we have included in this feature. The tents have a unique atmosphere with a tasteful combination of bric-a-brac and modern furniture, making the rooms extremely cosy. The tents stand on elevated wooden platforms which give them a sturdier feel. The rooms are spacious, at 50m² each, and accommodate up to six people. There is also a pleasant deck for each tent for candlelit dinners and breakfast as the sun rises. For a more traditional approach to camping, you can also hire a Tunnel Tent which is fully furnished but not as stylish as the safari tents. There are a number of facilities for guests, including an outdoor swimming pool and free Wifi connection. There is also a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner should you want to take the day off from cooking and food shopping. The bathrooms are, however, shared as they are on a traditional campsite.

Open from April to mid-September. To stay in a luxury safari tent is £95 per night, per tent, and between £550 and £775 for a week. For more information, see the Grand Bois website.
