In honor of Valentine's Day, you have decided to organise a romantic week away relaxing on a beach lost in the middle of the ocean with your loved one. The island does not have to be deserted but you would like it to be exotic. There are always the usual: Maldives, Mauritius, Bali, Jamaica, Barbados?but you are looking for something a little different this time. Why not try Nosy Be island, Madagascar? On this stunning volcanic island surrounded by a crystal clear lagoon, you will be grasped by the scent of vanilla, cinnamon, coffee and cocoa as soon as you step off the plane at Fascene Aiport. With its eleven volcanic lakes surrounded by thick green vegetation, its mounts Lokobe (450 metres) and Passot (350 metres) and the Lokobe nature reserve (one of Madagascar's 'strict' reserves) there's always somewhere new to explore. However, if what you're looking for is a beach spot to sprawl out and sunbathe in, then Nosy Be, with its jagged outline, hides lots of beautiful coves and palm-fringed deserted beaches. "Nosy Be" is Malagasy for 'Big Island' and has since been given various nicknames, one of which is "Nosy Manitra", meaning the scented island. Nosy Be is a tiny island five miles off the north western coast of Madagascar, its motherland. Due to its location, the island is protected from strong north-easterly winds and due to its microclimate the temperatures are stably hot (35°C). Nosy Be is paradise for diving, fishing and sailing fans. Nosy Be, like the mainland, has its own traditional music and rice-based food.
