For your eyes only: the best of Bond's travels

In this fourth installation of the Bond films, 007 embarks on a quest to find two nuclear missiles stolen by the sinister organisation SPECTRE. The thieves threaten to use the bombs to target a large American or British city if they do not receive a payment of £100 million. All 00 agents are sent out to retrieve the missiles, resulting in a battle on the seabed just off the Bahamas, as SPECTRE's agents attempt to fend off efforts to deactivate the missiles. The game of poker in the casino and final scenes of the film are also shot in the Bahamas, including the famous fight scene on Largo's (one of SPECTRE's agents) boat.

Most scenes are filmed in Nassau, the capital city of the Bahamas. For example, the casino where Bond plays poker with Largo is on Paradise Island, near Nassau harbour, and the famous underwater sex scene between Domino and Bond.

On first glance, Nassau can seem a little rough and ready - having historically been a haven for pirates, smugglers and offshore banking. However, don't be put off. As showcased in the Bond films, the city has plenty of glitz and glamour to offer, as well as raw natural beauty. For those who like to party, head out to one of Nassau's two casinos - Atlantis and Crystal Palace - or make the most of the rowdy night life in one of the city's bars or clubs. For those who prefer the tranquil life - make like James and Domino and head out for a day of scuba diving. The Bahamas has over 700 islets, coral reefs, tropical fish and wrecks. Combine this with 100 ft. visibility and you get divers paradise.
