Daniel Craig's first triumph as the dazzling secret agent has a wealth of destinations to choose from, but we've decided to go for Venice - easily the most classic and extremely in keeping with Bond's suave image. Accompanied by the vivacious Vesper (Eva Green), Bond sails luxuriously down the Canal Grande between the Accademia and Rialto bridges, before checking into a beautiful hotel overlooking the Piazza San Marco (the hotel is, unfortunately, not real).
However, you can almost precisely recreate the route by taking a vaparetto up the Grand Canal. Get off at the Rialto Bridge and walk over into Piazza San Marco which is filled with arcades of shops and cafes. It is also home to the Clocktower, whose face shows not only the time, but the date, phases of the moon and the signs of the zodiac. Otherwise, climb the 315ft bell tower which affords spectacular views over the entire city and its many waterways.
Whilst in the city, the plentiful markets and stalls are a must. Browse at your leisure through the crowds, sample some of the delicious local food, then grab a gelato (ice cream) and sit on any one of the numerous squares to be found lurking around every corner.
You can even go to see the palazzo which collapses into the Canal Grande with Vesper and Bond still trapped inside. Contrary to appearances, it is still standing opposite the Rialto vegetable market. Another must, and not far to go, is St Mark's Square and Basilica - easily one of the most beautiful churches that Italy has to offer and well worth a look inside. The square is most definitely best seen when empty, which, though difficult, is not impossible. Wait for the square to drain of the usual tourists and evening revelers to enjoy it beautifully lit up and peaceful.Iceland - Die Another Day
