We are all feeling the effects of the crisis, but with this bad turn of events can come some positives; the discovery of a new country for example. Since European destinations have become more expensive for us British, we are starting to explore destinations offering better value for money, Turkey being one of the big winners this year. Not only is it home to ancient cities with rich cultures, but to the south you can take advantage of all-inclusive packages all year round in some destinations. Turkey offers many of the advantages of the Mediterranean, often at up to half the price, and because tourism is not as developped as it is in the Med, being relatively confined to a few spots, you won't necessarily feel as though you are in the Majorca of the Orient. Both packages and flights can be found at fantastic value, the former from little over £200 and the latter from as low as £90 per person. And your wallet can continue smiling once there, especially if you choose an all-inclusive package, as the exchange rate is particularly favourable. However, there are other destinations where the pound will stretch further, such as Thailand for example, which has seen a huge rise in the number of travellers in the past few years. But it is also a good idea to keep an eye on the latest developments in the economy to see where else you could get more for your money; sometimes the misfortune of a country's weak currency is the fortune of the traveller!
