Rainbow meetings have been taking place for decades now and are essentially pockets of a nature-loving community that meet up in natural secluded places several times a year. Meetings take place all over the world and vary according to the destination and the people on the trip. They can last from a few days to months, depending on the group.
There are no formal websites or ways of organising a meeting - they are still organised as the original founders did. They are organised via word of mouth, so find out what's going on near you and if anyone is involved in this sort of activity.
Originally described as part of the hippie movement, Rainbow meetings today are a perfect outlet for stress and an opportunity to heighten the wellbeing of the body, mind and soul. Most people within the group will have a conventional job and will have joined the meeting to get back in touch with nature, other people and themselves.
It is a little like calling up a group of nature-loving friends and suggesting you all go camping for a month in a completely secluded place outdoors. The advantage of travelling in this way is the people you meet, the things you learn about yourself and the wild natural places you explore. In some ways, and at the risk of sounding extremely cheesy, a Rainbow meeting is supposed to be a journey in more ways than one.
