The Raphael (read the full review here) is one of Paris' most prestigious luxury hotels (despite not being awarded the 'Palace' label by the Parisian authorities). Situated close to the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, you will have Paris at your fingertips. A typical Parisian upmarket area, the Raphael's location invites peace and tranquility in a truly stunning setting. As would be expected from a multi award-winning hotel, the Raphael frequently plays host to some of the world's biggest stars. Iggy Pop and Dita Von Teese are well-known regulars, whilst Chanel photo shoots are a common occurrence in this whirl of Parisian charm.
The lobby area on first appearance seems slightly small, but don't be fooled; a long, stately corridor leads directly to the lifts taking you into the upper reaches of the elegant 1900s hotel. At the very top, step out into the 'Ciel de Paris' terrace and enjoy stunning 360° views of the French capital.
With a constant buzz of life and laughter, the Raphael is never a gloomy place to be. Though the décor would suggest a hotel firmly rooted in the 1900s, the Raphael provides the latest technology in all its rooms, including DVD players, televisions and Jacuzzi baths. If looking for real luxury, the penthouse suite is one to consider, spread over three floors and with its own access to the roof terrace.
In-keeping with its accommodating feel, the hotel provides not one but three choices of restaurant; the 'Salle à Manger', 'the Salon Bleu', 'Jardins du Ciel' and the 'Bar Anglais'. If you're looking for a change of deco, the Salon Bleu is well worth a visit. It has a wonderfully fresh, calm feel whilst making you think that you really could be sat in your own living room. The Bar Anglais is far more sumptuous in feel, with dark woodwork and velvet seats luring you into its shadows. This is certainly the place to be if you're after a quintessential mix of Parisian flair and British elegance in the heart of the capital, as well as a bit of celebrity spotting.
