Tango, gaucho and la pampa (the plains), Argentina is a country which offers a multitude of sites and landscapes to visit and revisit: the Iguaçu Falls, the Andean lakes, Patagonia, glaciers?something for every taste. Or maybe you'd prefer Buenos Aires, the capital, and its tango vibrations. For the sole female traveller, Argentina is a safe destination. While it would be true to say that the Argentineans are male chauvinist, they are not nasty or malicious in any way. A few 'hola!'s and regards in your direction should be taken as flattering. Just simply reply politely with a 'gracias' and be on your way. As in any country, you should be extra vigilant all the same in city centres and avoid certain of their quarters, especially at night. If you fell that you would especially like to go out until the early hours, try and do so accompanied. Only ever take the official 'Radio Taxi' cabs which you should book yourself or ask your hotel to do so on your behalf. Argentina welcomes you whole heartedly in return for a few precautions.
