Not to be outdone by the major European urban beach capitals, Brussels also has its own slice of beach at the Quai des Peniches in the city's northwest. From July until August, Bruxelles-les-Bains (or Brussels Spa) is popular for its huge array of sporting activities (football, rowing and rock climbing etc). But besides the more traditional beach activities, those who want to bust a move can join in on the dance lessons such as the very popular Zumba classes. Check out the 'cultural parties' and hear everything from Brazilian batucada, to Latin jazz, big band, jungle, and folk music from Azerbaijan. For the kids there are theatre workshops, magic shows, dance demonstrations and even a mini disco. For only a few quid you can embark on the Brussels Spa Cruise for a tour around the city's waterways but should a culinary tour be more tempting, over 50 stalls entice with delights from Brazil, Mongolia, Zanzibar, Peru and Jamaica, amongst others! Don't forget to wash it all down with a cool cocktail.
